The colorful House Finches are abundant over much

of North America.  They have cheery chirps and some

pairs stay together year round.  They feed on seeds,

buds, berries and sometimes on small insects.

The hummingbird might dream of the fragrant cereus cactus flower but, unfortunately for them, they feed during daylight hours and the cereus (moonflower) is a night blooming plant.
