Climatis 2 - NFS
This picture was originally titled " Climatis. Since I was unhappy with it, I used amonia to remove the varnish under the area where I wanted to paint a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird. Then I removed the watercolor with water. Painted the hummer and revarnished. Now I am happy with the painting. 11"x14" Watercolor on Aquabord, sealed with UV Resistant Krylon Acrylic varnish.

Green Violet Ear
This medium-sized metallic green hummingbird is mostly found in forested areas of Mexico to northern South America, although they have been spotted in Calif. & Florida. Like other hummers, the legs are short & weak. They rarely, if ever, land on the ground since quick escape from predators would be virtually impossible. 8"x10" Watercolor on Aquabord, sealed with UV Resistant Krylon Acrylic Varnish. No glass needed.

ONLY LOOKING - NFS
On my lst trip to Florida, I noticed a squirrel in an orange tree with an orange in his paws. I didn't know squirrels ate oranges but he was taking the skin off with his teeth. Maybe he was only after the seeds.

Ruby
The Ruby Throated hummer is the only one that lives and breeds in NY. Since they are not well adapted to the cold weather, they tend to migrate in late August to early September. Hummingbirds only are present in the Americas, north, central and south.
